Merit-Based Financial Aid Awards

Nevada School of the Arts is committed to providing high quality music education that is affordable and available to the widest possible audience.

Limitations in the amount of aid available may mean that not every talented student with a demonstrated need can be helped. All applications received will be considered equally and the school will assist as many students as possible.

All applicants must submit an application and a copy of the family’s most recent federal tax return. All information submitted will be kept in strict confidence.

Merit Scholarships

Limited funding in the form of Merit Scholarships is available for those students who have demonstrated exceptional talent and/or potential. Such students may also be considered for assistance on the basis of financial need, but in no case will the awards be equal to 100% of the cost for study in the principal area of study. To be eligible for a Merit Award, the following criteria must be met:

  • Students must receive a recommendation from their principal teacher before they can be considered for a Merit Award.
  • Student’s teacher must submit a written recommendation to the Dean for each student being nominated by May 1st.
  • The audition for a Merit Award will be each student applicant’s end-of-term recital performance. The student should consult with the teacher concerning the choice of the most appropriate repertoire for the recital.
  • Applicants in the visual arts must present a portfolio of works which are representative of their best work, preferably in several mediums.

Cox Communications Awards

Students must be recommended by their teacher to audition for the Cox Honors Recital in the Spring Semester.
